Some have come straight from university, others have gained vital work experience whilst others have developed skills in a different industry altogether.

Our Top Five Tips to Getting Started in the Arts
1. Get some work experience
Competition for jobs in the arts is tough. Give yourself an edge by sorting out work experience during your holidays. There is never a dull day in an arts organisation; there’s always something exciting to get your teeth stuck into. So the duties you’ll get involved in and the skills you’ll develop will help to set you apart.
2. Get involved
If you’re at school, college or university make sure you keep your passion for the arts alive. Learn how to play an instrument, join a youth theatre, write a story, dance, sing, express yourself. You might even discover a creative side you never knew you had!
3. Get to know the arts in your region
Visit your local Arts Council website to find out all you need to know about arts jobs, developments, funding and projects in the region from the people working to get great art to everyone.
